About the position
We are looking for a Biotechnology Engineer to join our team in Lund, Sweden. You will be working closely with our Chief Technology Officer in a creative role where your tasks will range from design and execution of lab/pilot experiments, to exploration of new applications of our bio-based technologies. You will be working in a team developing and identifying new bio-based processes, and the evaluation and testing of strategies to improve bioprocess KPIs such as yields and product properties. You will have an essential role in designing experiments, running bench-top and pilot-scale fermentations and downstream processing. The work will focus on improving KPIs, generating and analyzing data and materials for customers, preparing experimental reports, and providing input on technical approaches to meet project goals.
The position will require occasional shift work (e.g. evenings, nights and/or weekends).

- Independent and in-team design and operation of lab and pilot experiments
- Presentation and interpretation of results and projects outcomes, standard operating protocols, SOP.

About the position:
To support our fast growth and commercialization of our technologies, we are looking for a Fermentation Scientist to join our team in Lund, Sweden. You will be working closely with our R&D, Operations, and DSP teams in a creative role where your tasks will range from designing and executing lab and pilot experiments to improve existing and explore new upstream and downstream processing methods. You will be responsible for process conceptualization and definition of new processes and the development and testing of strategies to improve bioprocess KPIs, such as yield, purity, and process time. You will be directly involved in designing experiments, running bench-top and pilot-scale fermentors (1-1000 L), generating and analyzing data, preparing experimental reports, and providing input on technical approaches to meet project goals. You will lead and collaboration with other team/s members.
It is a full-time position and based in Lund, Sweden. Work may require occasional shift work (eg. evenings, nights, or weekends). Salary depends on experience.

Job responsibilities:
· Designing and operating lab and pilot scale fermentation experiments for internal know-how development and delivery of samples to customers.
· Management and supervision of teams members in running experimental and operational processes
· Presentation and interpretation of results and projects outcomes.
· Actively contribute to improve processes and methods and evaluate the patentability of results.
Preparation and review of protocols and Standard Operating Procedures for technology transfers.
Preparing data for patent applications and project reports.

Qualifications:
· PhD with minimum three years of industry experience (including post-doc working in industry-related projects), or

The new facility employs both fermentation and downstream processing technologies working with bacterial cultures and biomaterial hydrolysates. You will work closely with our fermentation and analysis teams in a collaborative role where your tasks will range from operation, control, monitoring, and maintenance of the pilot scale processes and equipment.
The position is full-time based in Lund, Sweden. Since fermentation is a continuous process the position may require occasional work outside regular daytime hours.
Your responsibilities will be (but not limited to):
- Operation of pilot-scale (3 - 1000 L) bioprocess experiments, both USP and DSP
- Downstream processing of cells and products to reach high recovery and purity using centrifugation, filtration, polishing, and drying
- Preparation and sterilization of solutions and media for cultivation of bacteria and treatment of substrates
- Ensuring continuous operation of processes and equipment
- Preparation of protocols and Standard Operating Procedures for technology transfers
- Presentation and interpretation of results and project outcomes
- Installation and operation of machines and equipment related to Chemical Engineering or Biotech fields like bioreactors, boilers, centrifuges, decanters, filters, dryers, autoclaves, freezers, and other lab-scale machines
- Troubleshooting of process and machine performance, yield, and reproducibility
- Ensuring both efficiency and safety of processes
Qualifications:
· Technical degree or engineering-focused high school
· Good communication skills in English (Swedish not necessary)
As a person, you must be organized, reliable, and able to follow instructions. It is also important that you are flexible, solution-oriented, and innovative.
Desired work experience:
- Experience in running, and controlling chemical, biochemical, or food production processes
- Experience with continuous operation of chemical or biochemical processes

About the position
We are looking for a Fermentation Scientist to join our team in Lund, Sweden. You will be working closely with our Chief Technology Officer in a creative role where your tasks will range from design and execution of lab/pilot experiments to the exploration of new applications for our bio-based technologies. You will be responsible for process conceptualization and definition of new processes and the development and testing of strategies to improve bioprocess KPIs such as yields and product properties. You will be directly involved in designing experiments, running bench-top and pilot-scale fermenters, generating and analyzing data, preparing experimental reports, and providing input on technical approaches to meet project goals. You will lead a team of more junior employees.

About the position
We are looking for a Downstream Bioprocessing Scientist to join our team at the head office in Lund, Sweden. You will be working closely with our Chief Technology Officer in a creative role where your tasks will range from designing and executing lab/pilot experiments to exploring new downstream processing methods. You will be responsible for downstream process conceptualisation, definition of new processes and the development and testing of strategies to improve purity and yield in a cost-efficient way.
Your responsibilities will be:
· Management, design, and lab operation of pilot-scale (3-60 and 1000 L) experiments.
· Presentation and interpretation of results and project outcomes.
· Actively contribute to the improvement of processes and methods, as well as evaluation of the patentability of the results.
· Management of R&D and customer related projects.
· Preparation and review of protocols and Standard Operating Procedures for technology transfers.
· Writing patents and project reports.
Specific responsibilities include developing and enhancing downstream processing of microbial cells and products, extracting and purifying extracellular and intracellular microbial products, and analysing their purity. The position involves managing the laboratories' day-to-day running, data collection, analysis, reporting, and leading and collaborating with other team/s members.
Qualifications
You are an ambitious Scientist with a Ph.D. degree in biochemical engineering, environmental engineering, biotechnology, or related discipline with an emphasis on downstream processing. Industry or industry related experience of 4+ years is necessary. Applicants with MSc and 8+ years of related industry or R&D experience will be also considered.
You have experience of management and design lab operation and leading/participating in projects.
You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Required lab experience:
· Lab and pilot scale practical engineering experience in optimizing and scaling harvesting of microbial cells (centrifugation, membrane filtration, coagulation, sedimentation, etc.), cell disruption, extraction, and purification technologies of microbial and natural products.
· Strong knowledge and practical experience in separating microbial intracellular and extracellular metabolites products and cellular components, such as lipids, proteins, organic and amino acids, etc. Large-scale separation experience is a significant advantage.
· Experience in softwares like Aspen, SuperPro, SchedulePro, DOE.
Desired experience:
· Bioprocess modelling experience for upscaling and downscaling of industrial processes.
· Large scale or industrial scale experience in downstream bioprocessing and bioproduction.

About the position
As an Analytical Chemist you will primarily be contributing to the measurement and optimization of the performance of our bioprocess for synthesis and extraction of biologically synthesized polyesters (polyhydroxyalkanoates –PHAs). You may be also involved in our process to produce hydrolysed protein and keratin fibres from poultry feathers. In this role, you will be a core part of the R&D team by designing, performing and optimizing analytical methods for the analysis of samples generated in our different processes.
Additionally, you will assist with the interpretation of the analytical data in close collaboration with our Senior R&D Engineer to establish robust analytical methods that will generate consistent and reliable data. The position also involves operating and performing basic maintenance of our analytical equipment.
Your job responsibilities:
- Processing of biomass, polymers, hydrolyzed biomass and other similar samples for analytical analysis.
- Development and optimization of analytical methods using gas chromatography (GC), gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for analysis of the samples.
- Complete documentation and reports for samples including timely entries in notebooks and laboratory databases.
- Interpretation, critical analysis and presentation of the analytical results.
- Active contribution to the improvement of processes and methods, as well as evaluation of the patentability of the results.
- Actively identifying opportunities for automation of routine tasks to minimize analytical errors/variability.
Your background/ work experience:
MSc. graduates within analytical chemistry, biochemical engineering, environmental engineering, biotechnology or related discipline.
Required lab experience:
- At least one year of practical experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Some practical knowledge of GC, GPC and HPLC.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of the principles of operation of the above mentioned analytical instruments.
- Some practical experience and good theoretical knowledge of statistical analysis and design of experiments.
Desired experience:
