As a Design for Production Engineer at Axis Communications, you will ensure that our latest innovations are producible at high volumes by playing a key role in the development of both assembly-conscious products and time efficient, high yielding production processes. Producing high-caliber IP cameras that our customers can depend on ensures that Axis continues to fulfill promises of safer and smarter communities across the globe.

Both entry level and experienced applicants are encouraged to apply, as two positions are currently open. While we will base our selection primarily on merit, each applicant's contribution to team diversity will also be highly valued.

Your future team?
You will be a part of a diverse team of Test engineers and Design for Production engineers cooperating to bring Axis products to market. The role gives a broad range of creative interfaces and an opportunity to cooperate with and learn from them i.e., mechanics, electronics production, software, supply chain and Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS's).

What will you do?
Our work is largely project based. Each product follows a five-phase development process that typically runs from one to two years. Within each project, you will:

* Initiate workshops and discussions centered around 'design for assembly'
* Define the product's assembly process and co-create its full production process with one of our manufacturing partners (located in North America, Asia, or Europe)
* Set design requirements for complex assembly and test fixtures, verify that they are manufactured to this specification, and secure their timely delivery to one of our manufacturing partners
* Visit the product's manufacturing site during at least one pre-production build to verify the production process (up to 30 days of travel per year is expected)

This role depends heavily on effective collaboration and communication within cross-functional teams. We often refer to ourselves as the 'spider-in-the-web' since we influence many different areas within our projects and interact with so many stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?
Are you curious? Analytical? Organized? Do you enjoy facing new challenges and taking the initiative to find solutions? Are you passionate about aligning R&D innovations with production realities? If so, please apply. We are interested in learning about why you are a perfect fit for our team and sharing more about what Axis has to offer.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

* Degree in mechanical or industrial engineering
* Demonstrated interest in production
* Proficient English

Advantageous Skills and Qualifications

* Knowledge of mechatronic systems
* Experience working with 3D CAD programs and PDM systems
* Experience within EMS(Electronic Manufacturing Service), automation, or optics
* International working experience

Ready to Act?
Axis is a company realizing the benefits of a diverse workforce. We know that diversity in groups creates a better working environment and promotes creativity, something that is fundamental for our success.

Bringing new technology quickly to the market is one of Axis' keys to success. The EMS NPI Lead will be of great contribution making this happen.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
That's a good question! Our Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), or factories as you might call them, are one of the most critical parts of our supply chain. This is where we produce the electronics, assemble and test our products. This is also where we work with New Product Introduction (NPI) of our latest products. And now we're getting close to where you come in. We need someone who can develop our ways of working during NPI at our EMSs. We need someone who can take all the smart things that come up in our development projects during NPI and standardize these so that all projects can benefit at all our EMSs. This might sound a bit unclear but let's try to make it more substantial with bullet point. Your responsibilities will be:

* Build trust and a close relationship with key roles connected to NPI at our EMSs
* Develop, implement, own and continuously improve the NPI process in relation to our EMSs
* Drive continuous improvement activities, from identification to implementation and follow up
* Work in close collaboration with Axis' development projects for creating deep understanding of their challenges and needs
* Set and own the standard requirements that are connected to our different production builds during NPI
* Set up relevant EMS performance indexes for NPI, closely monitor and take action when necessary
* NPI performance during EMS business reviews
* Build and maintain an effective EMS commodity team together with the EMS Commodity Manager and EMS Supply Lead.

The activities that you will drive is mainly related to process improvements and how we manage our NPI projects. The heavy technical stuff and quality related activities are already taken care of by other departments, but you will work in close co-operation with them and need to understand their challenges.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Another good question! Since this is a new position, we expect you to be motivated by the possibility of forming your role for the best of Axis. You should have at least 5 years of working experience from the manufacturing industry:

* Experience from supplier management in a global context is a must and it's also relevant if you have commercial understanding of supplier business
* You probably have a technical university degree of some kind. Previous experience of driving improvement activities or project management skills will certainly make your everyday easier.

As a person we believe that you like to be in a fast moving and constantly growing environment. You are used to handling different stakeholders and good at creating an understanding of their expectations. To work with process improvements comes natural and you also possess a solid understanding that big change is achieved step by step. You are a strong communicator who enjoy driving several activities in parallel and have the ability to prioritize among these. To be result focused is a part of your DNA, at the same time understanding HOW the result is achieved is essential at Axis. We certainly expect you to challenge our old habits and sayings like "this is how we've always done it".

Our EMSs are currently located in Poland, Thailand and Mexico. It will surely help if you understand the local cultures. To be successful in the role you need to be present on sites, therefore approximately 30 travel days a year is expected.

THE TEAM
This role will be organized in the Industrial Lead team that currently consist of 20 Industrial Leads. The Industrial Lead role drives NPI, but in contrast with your role, they are fully allocated to our development projects.

You will also work in close co-operation with our core EMS commodity team who, besides you, consist of EMS Commodity Manager and EMS Supply Lead. Together in the EMS Commodity you need to create a unified and strong voice towards your stakeholder.

WHAT CAN AXIS DO FOR YOU?
In this role you will get a unique possibility to work with NPI both internally at Axis but also externally together with our EMSs. When doing so, you will have contact with a lot of functions and competences from many different cultures. The role gives you a deep insight of how Axis' supply chain and production work which also opens up for new, future opportunities.

Moreover you will have the possibility to thrive in a fast pace environment with an open, helpful and growing culture that prioritizes a healthy work/life balance.

READY TO ACT?
Enough said. This add has probably caused some confusion and hopefully also a lot of interest. Now it's time for you to act! Give us a ring, send us a message or come by and interview us. We're looking forward to seeing you!

Please contact recruiting Industrial Lead Manager, Anna Szatmari or our Sourcing Manager, Nerzesa Dzinovic at +46 46 272 1800. Visa mindre
